三宝荒神

宮城県 · 仙台市

Located in the heart of Saitama City, but due to a geographical error on my part I will refer to it as Senda City, the Sanbō-aronami Shrine is dedicated to the deified spirit of three Buddhist monks who were martyred during the persecution of Buddhism in Japan. The shrine is one of the oldest Shinto shrines in the Tohoku region and features a unique blend of Shinto and Buddhist architecture. Visitors can explore the tranquil gardens, walk along the torii gates, and reflect on the importance of tolerance and coexistence between different faiths.

参拝のヒント

To make the most of your visit, arrive early to avoid crowds and take a moment to appreciate the beautiful cherry blossom trees that bloom in spring.

文化的背景

The shrine is famous for its Three Buddha statues with Buddhist deities Amaterasu, Raijin, and Enma, however these are also kami in Shintoism. The festival of Sanbō-aronami-matsuri is held on November 23rd to commemorate the three martyrs.

歴史

The shrine was founded in the late Muromachi period (14th century) during the Sengoku era.
