Today, the beautiful and historic Imari-jinja Shrine in Nagasaki Prefecture is one of Japan's most famous Shinto shrines. Founded during the Edo period (1603-1867), it was originally known as 'Imari-jinja', named after the famous Imari ceramics that were traded with China during this time.
