Located in Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture, Shin shrine is a Shinto temple that dates back to the Edo period. The shrine is dedicated to the deity of the sea and fishing, Sugawara no Michizane, as well as the kami of the town's prosperity and good fortune.

Shin shrine is known for its unique architectural style, which reflects the traditional Japanese townhouse ( Machiya) design. The shrine also hosts an annual summer festival called 'Matsuri', where visitors can enjoy traditional music, dance, and food. Interestingly, the shrine's name 'Shin' roughly translates to 'new' in English, possibly referring to its establishment during a time of great change.
