Atago Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Maibara, Shiga Prefecture. The shrine is famous for its beautiful vermilion torii gate and its association with the god of fire, Atago Okami. According to legend, the shrine was built on the site where a samurai died from burns while trying to put out a fire. Today, visitors can experience traditional Japanese culture at the shrine's many festivals throughout the year.
