Kurashiki Ivy Square
倉敷アイビースクエア
7-2 Honmachi, Kurashiki, Okayama 710-0054, Japan
Overview
Kurashiki Ivy Square is a hotel and cultural complex set within the Bikan Historical Area, known for its white-walled townscape. The property preserves and reuses the red-brick facades and trees of the former Kurashiki Spinning Mill, a Meiji-era textile factory (now Kurabo). In 2007, the original spinning mill buildings were recognized as a national 'Heritage of Industrial Modernization' for their contribution to Japan's industrialization. Guest rooms were fully renovated in October 2020 with a natural, wood-toned design inspired by Okayama's mild climate, and the complex also houses Japanese and Western restaurants and a bar in the converted mill buildings, a pottery studio, and shops selling local crafts and souvenirs.
