永沼八幡神社

Located in the town of Daigo, Ibaraki Prefecture,永沼八幡神社 is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deity Susanoo-no-Mikoto, one of the most prominent gods in Japanese mythology. The shrine's name "Eight-Horseshoe" refers to the eight horseshoes said to be buried at its entrance, symbolizing protection and good fortune. According to legend, the shrine was established during the Kamakura period to commemorate Susanoo-no-Mikoto's role in saving the island of Harima from a giant serpent.
