Located in the city of Nihari, Ibaraki Prefecture, Eight Halls Shrine is one of Japan's oldest Shinto shrines, dating back to the 8th century. The shrine was originally known as Kaminarimon and Enmei Jinguten, but its current name reflects its unique association with stormy weather and the god of storms, Fujin.

Cultural notes
As a shrine dedicated to Fujin, the god of storms, Eight Halls Shrine is often visited during typhoon season. In November, visitors can participate in the annual 'Typhoon Festival,' where prayers are offered for safe passage through bad weather. The shrine's architecture, including its distinctive vermilion torii gates and thatched roofs, reflects its historical connection to storm-prone areas.
