Located in the heart of Shiga Prefecture, 櫳山神社 (Mibashinsha) is a small yet historic Shinto shrine dedicated to the worship of Mibara Kami. The shrine's architecture reflects traditional Japanese designs with a vermilion torii gate and a rectangular main hall. According to local legend, the kami was said to have appeared at this location after a natural disaster, leading to its enshrinement.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes
Mibashinsha is known for its unique relationship with local fishermen, who believe that the kami offers protection from natural disasters and ensures a bountiful catch. During the annual Mibari Festival, held in July, locals offer food and drinks to the kami in gratitude for these blessings.
