Located in the historic town of Asaka, Saitama Prefecture, Asezu Inari Taisha is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Inari Okami, the god of fertility and rice, as well as various regional kami such as Kami Yabii-sagisan and Kaminarikamui. The shrine's current main hall was built in 1755 during the Edo period, with older structures dating back to the Heian era. Visitors can explore the shrine's various shrines, gardens, and traditional Japanese architecture.

Visitor tip
To avoid crowds, visit early in the morning or later in the evening; also, be sure to remove your shoes before entering the main hall.
Cultural notes
The shrine is famous for its many fox spirits (kitsune) that are believed to reside on the grounds. Visitors can make offerings of food and other gifts to the fox spirits, which are said to bring good luck and fertility. The shrine also hosts the annual Asezu Inari Taisha Matsuri festival in late August.
