Located in the heart of Hokkaido, Niseko's Middle Battle Power Shrine is a revered Shinto site dedicated to the kami known as Amaterasu Omikami and Susanowo-no-kami. The shrine is one of the oldest on the island, dating back to the late Edo period. Cultural notes

The shrine is connected to the mythological stories of the Akan people, who believe that Susanowo-no-kami brought snowfall and ice to the region. Locals celebrate this event as the 'Furuma Festival' in December.

Founded in 1873 during the Meiji period, it was originally known as 'Tsuruiwaishi Shrine.'
