Cultural notes
This shrine is famous for its traditional architecture and vibrant festivals. In spring, it hosts the 'Yuki-yujo-tanabata' festival to celebrate the legend of two lovers separated by fate. The legend says that if you tie your shoelaces together with a thread during the summer solstice and then cut them apart at dawn on July 7th, the lovers will be reunited.
Historical note
Founded during the Edo period (1603-1868), this shrine was originally dedicated to the Shinto god of love, fertility and prosperity.
