Kagawa

Located in the Kagawa Prefecture, Ushijima-san Hachiman-gu is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god Hachiman, the patron deity of war and scholars. The shrine was originally built on Mount Ushijima in 1560 by the Uesugi clan as a temple dedicated to the goddess Hachiko, an ancestor of the Uesugi family. It is also notable for its connection to the mythological figure Hachiko, who is said to have been the loyal companion of a samurai during the Edo period.
