Dan no Ura Shrine, located in Shizuoka Prefecture, is dedicated to the Shinto god Dan oura, who is believed to have been a samurai and a legendary hero from the Genpei War era. According to legend, Dan oura was a powerful warrior who saved his lord's life during battle. After his death, he became a kami, or deity, and was enshrined at this shrine.
