Located in the city of Akita, Hachiman Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Hachiman Ō-no-mikoto, the Shinto god of war and patron deity of the samurai class. Built during the Heian period (794-1185 CE), the current structure is a result of renovations made in 1882 CE, following the Meiji Restoration. The shrine's main hall is famous for its 'eight-horned' roof design resembling eight curved horns.
