Located in the Higashiyama-ku district of Kyoto, 神南神社 (Inasa Shrine) is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the kami Inasa Okami and Inasa Tsunemichi. The shrine's architecture is characteristic of the Heian period, with a two-story main hall and a five-story pagoda. The shrine complex features several garden areas, including the famous 'Inasa Garden,' which was originally planted by the first shrine priest in 1553.

Cultural notes
Inasa Shrine is closely associated with the legendary 'Tale of the Fifty-one Samurai,' in which the hero Saigō Takamori is said to have visited the shrine before his death. The shrine also hosts the annual 'Sasayama Festival' in May, celebrating the local production of rice and sake.
