Eight-Horned God Shrine, dedicated to the Shinto deity Susanoo-no-Mikoto and later Enma-daiō, is located in Ibaraki Prefecture. The current structure was rebuilt in 1956, but its foundation dates back to 1599. This shrine is known for its unique eight-horned roof structure, a rare example of Shinto architecture.

Visitor tip
To avoid waiting in line, visit the shrine early in the morning or during the off-season.
Cultural notes
The shrine is famous for its eight-horned roof structure, which represents Susanoo-no-Mikoto's fishhook. During the Obon festival, lanterns are hung from the roof to honor the spirits of one's ancestors.
