瀧樹神社

Takiyoshida Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Mino, Shiga Prefecture. Dedicated to Takikawa-kami, a kami believed to have been born from a waterfall, the shrine's architecture reflects its connection to nature and water. The shrine's main hall, designed in traditional Heian-period style, features a prominent roof tile covered with a vermilion lacquer painting of the god Takikawa-kami.

Visitor tip

As a Shinto shrine located near a waterfall, Takiyoshida Shrine is believed to be associated with purification rituals and water-related festivals. During the spring equinox, locals perform a traditional dance, called 'sai' or 'tatsu,' at the shrine's sacred water fountain.

Historical note

The shrine was founded during the Kamakura period, around 1192, by the Mino clan.
