White Ichijo Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Osaka, dedicated to the god of rice and prosperity, Inari Okami. The shrine's architecture reflects traditional Japanese design, with a rectangular vermilion torii gate and a wooden pagoda. According to local legend, the shrine was founded during the Kamakura period (1185-1333) by a peasant who offered a prayer to Inari for good fortune.

Visitor tip

Inari Okami is often depicted with multiple arms holding rice baskets, symbolizing abundance. The shrine hosts an annual festival in September, where participants carry ornate straw lanterns (called 'toro nagashi') down a nearby river to purify and bring good luck.

The shrine was rebuilt in 1611 during the Edo period after being destroyed by fires.
