Located in the coastal town of Tateishi, Chiba Prefecture, Eight-Horsemanship Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god Susanoo-no-Mikoto and his brother, the sun goddess Amaterasu. The shrine is famous for its unique architecture and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. Its name 'Hachimantai' or Hachiman means eight horses, referring to the legendary horse that the wind god, Susanoo no Mikoto, rode.

Cultural notes
The shrine is also known for its unique 'yabu no ue' or 'the mountain on the back of the deer', which refers to a statue of a deer with an archer built into its side, representing Susanoo no Mikoto riding his horse.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt in 1610 during the Edo period.
