Located in the heart of Chiba Prefecture, Eight-Horned Shrine (Hachimantai) is one of Japan's oldest and most revered Shinto shrines. Cultural notes
As one of Japan's oldest shrines, Hachimantai is steeped in history and mythology. According to legend, Hachiman was born on this site and was said to have possessed supernatural powers. The shrine also hosts an annual festival (Hachiman Matsuri) in July to commemorate the god's patronage of the samurai class.
