Located in the coastal city of Itako, Ibaraki Prefecture's Nagi City is home to the Eight-Fold God Shrine, dedicated to a powerful Shinto kami. This shrine is famous for its large stone statue of Fukutomi-no-Mikoto, one of the eight gods of old. The complex features an impressive main hall and several smaller shrines, including a branch dedicated to the god of fortune, Fukutomi no Kami.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes
As part of its traditional festivals, the Eight-Fold God Shrine hosts an annual Shunbun Matsuri, celebrating the arrival of spring with lanterns and rituals to honor the eight gods. The shrine is also famous for its unique architectural style, which blends the distinctive wooden construction characteristic of Ibaraki Prefecture.
