Suigō-ji Shrine, located in the coastal town of Tōkai in Ibaraki Prefecture, is dedicated to the water deity Susuwatari and the sea god Ryūjin. Visitor tip

Cultural notes
Suigō-ji Shrine is associated with the legend of Ryūjin's grandson, who was said to have been rescued by a fisherman from drowning. The shrine also hosts an annual festival in October to celebrate the arrival of autumn and the blessings of the sea.
