Located in the city of Akashi, Hyogo Prefecture, Ifuku-ji Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu and her son Susanoo. The shrine's name, 'Ifuku-ji', literally means 'a place where the spirit of the Buddha resides'. However, its primary focus remains on Shinto deities. The shrine's architecture reflects Heian-period influences, with a main hall featuring a distinctive tiled roof. During the annual Obon festival in August, lanterns are hung along the pathways leading up to the shrine, creating a beautiful and serene atmosphere.
