The shrine's architecture reflects its historical roots in the Kamakura period and features a unique, red-tiled roof with a distinctive curved eaves.

The shrine also features a unique, vermilion-painted gate known as 'tōrō,' which is said to be an example of classic Kamakura architecture.

Historical note

Founded in 1185 during the Kamakura period, Ai date-ji Temple is believed to have been built by the Hachiman Shrine's 13th-century extension.
