Dan no Sama Shrine, located in Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture, is one of the oldest and most important Shinto shrines dedicated to Dan no Sama, a deity believed to reside in the sea. According to legend, Dan no Sama was a god who ruled over the Ise Bay region before moving to his current location at the shrine.
