高嶋神社

高嶋神社, located in the Okayama Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the kami of Mount Hiei, which is part of the Chugoku-San'in Mountains. The shrine's history dates back to the Heian period (794-1185 CE), making it one of the oldest shrines in Japan. Its main hall, designed in the traditional Japanese architectural style known as 'yagura-zukuri,' features a distinctive multi-tiered roof and is adorned with ornate carvings and paintings. Visitors can experience the shrine's spiritual significance by participating in the annual Hie Matsuri festival, which honors the mountain's sacred energy.
