Cultural notes

The shrine is also associated with the legend of the 'Hagi no Kami,' which states that the deity was revered by local farmers for its ability to bring fertility and prosperity to their crops. Today, the shrine hosts an annual festival (called 'New田 Shrine Festival') in May, where locals celebrate the arrival of spring with traditional dances, food, and games.

Historical note

New田 Shrine was first established in the Heian period and has been rebuilt several times since then.
