秋葉神社

Located in the city of Odawara, Akibayashi Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine dedicated to Amaterasu Omikami, the goddess of the sun. The shrine's architecture reflects its origins as a humble wooden structure during the Edo period, with subsequent renovations and additions made during the Meiji era. Cultural notes

Akibayashi Shrine is also known as Odawara Castle Shrine and is associated with the legend of Hachiman, the god of war. During the annual Odawara Festival, visitors can enjoy traditional performances, food stalls, and a parade featuring the shrine's iconic torii gate.

Historical note

The shrine was built in 1602 by Tokugawa Ieyasu, founder of the Tokugawa shogunate.
