The Shodo Tenno Shrine in Shiga Prefecture is dedicated to the imperial ancestors of Japan's emperor, particularly Emperor Seiwa, who ruled from 858 to 876. Historical note
Founded in 860 as a temple dedicated to the spirits of Emperor Kanmu and his wife Empress Shoken, it was later converted into a Shinto shrine in 1869.
