Jiangzun Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, dedicated to the kami of sea and fishing. The shrine's architecture reflects the region's coastal culture, with a distinctive octagonal torii gate. According to local legend, the shrine was founded during the Nara period (710-794 CE) to honor the god of the sea, who is said to have appeared on land during a storm.

Cultural notes

Jiangzun Shrine has strong ties to the region's fishing industry. During the annual Setsubun festival (February 3rd), devotees throw soybeans at shrine gates to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck for the coming year. The shrine is also famous for its beautiful cherry blossom viewing area.
