Dayo Shrine, located in the town of Echizen Minami in Shiga Prefecture, is one of Japan's oldest shrines dedicated to the god of the sea, Hachiman. The shrine's architecture reflects its Kamakura period origins, with a main hall and a torii gate constructed during this time. Dayo Shrine is also known for its association with the mythical creature Ryujin, who is said to reside in the nearby Echizen Bay.
