The Dayo Shrine in Shiga Prefecture is a revered Shinto site dedicated to the god of fertility, prosperity, and good fortune. Established in the Nara period (710-794 CE), it has been an important cultural and spiritual center for centuries. The shrine's main deity is Susanoo-no-kami, a powerful storm god and one of the most iconic kami in Japanese mythology.

Visitor tip
