Cultural notes
Daigoshin Shrine is closely tied to the local maritime culture and is said to have been an important place for the Tokugawa family to perform rituals and make offerings to ensure safe passage at sea. The shrine's festival, Enma Matsuri, is held annually on October 8th and features traditional music, dance, and food.
Historical note
The shrine was built in 1844 during the Edo period by the Tokugawa family, who considered themselves descended from Enma Daiōkami.
