The shrine of Plain Village Great God Plain Village Shrine is a Shinto site located in the city of Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture. Dedicated to the kami of plain and agriculture, it is said to have been founded during the Heian period (794-1185). The shrine's main hall, the honden, is adorned with a red tile roof, typical of Japanese Buddhist architecture. In the 16th century, the shrine was renovated in the Kamakura style. The shrine is celebrated annually for its autumnal Cherry Blossom Viewing Festival.

Cultural notes
In Shiga Prefecture, Plain Village is said to be the birthplace of the legendary princess Ōtomo no Okuni, who was revered as a kami. During the New Year (Oshogatsu), the shrine hosts a purification ritual for fishermen and farmers, asking for good fortune in their work.
