Visitor tip

Cultural notes

The shrine is dedicated to Tsukuyomi, the Shinto god of the moon and fertility. Locals often visit the shrine during the autumnal equinox (September 22-23) to pray for good harvests and bountiful crops. The shrine also boasts an impressive collection of traditional Japanese art and architecture, including its distinctive roofed torii gate.
