Visitor tip

Cultural notes

Inari Shrine is known for its thousands of vermilion torii gates that form a tunnel leading to the inner sanctum, representing the many routes Inari Okami took during her travels. The shrine also hosts various festivals throughout the year, including the Omiya Matsuri in November.

Historical note

The shrine was founded during the Kamakura period (1185-1333) and has since been rebuilt several times due to fires and natural disasters.
