The Dōitsu-jinja Shrine in Osaka is a Shinto temple dedicated to the kami of sake breweries and artisans. Founded in 1683, it is one of the oldest Shinto shrines in Osaka, with a rich history dating back to the Edo period. Visitor tip
Visit the shrine during cherry blossom season (March-April) for a beautiful view of the blooming sakura trees surrounding the temple.
Cultural notes
The Dōitsu-jinja Shrine is associated with the mythology of sake brewing and is said to be the resting place of the kami, Hōjin-yamato-no-Ōe-mi no Osafune-kami. The shrine also holds an annual Sake Festival (Sake Matsuri) in May to celebrate the harvest season.
