下屋稲荷神社 is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Mutsu, Iwate Prefecture, dedicated to Inari Okami, the kami of rice, fertility, and prosperity. The shrine's architecture reflects traditional Japanese design, with a wooden torii gate and a vermilion finial. Its location near the mouth of the Sensui River has led some to associate it with good fortune for fishermen and merchants. Despite its modest size, the shrine is an important cultural landmark in the region.

Visitor tip
When visiting, try some local specialty rice cakes, called 'daifuku', which are said to be blessed by the shrine's kami.
Cultural notes
As a prominent center for Inari Okami worship in Iwate, the shrine is involved in annual festivals, including the spring 'Hakamatsuri' and autumn 'Aki Matsuri'. The Sensui River nearby also hosts its own Shinto rituals and ceremonies.
Historical note
The shrine was established during the Edo period (1603-1867) as a regional variant of the Inari Okami worship at nearby Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine.
