Ōmachi Shrine is connected to the legend of the 'Eight Immortals,' who are said to have taken refuge here from persecution. The shrine also has a unique tradition of 'tsukubai,' a ritual water basin that visitors must rinse their mouth and hands in before praying.
Historical note
Established during the Edo period (1603-1867), Ōmachi Shrine was rebuilt after being destroyed by fire in 1915.
