Indra Shrine in Hyogo is dedicated to the Shinto god of storms and lightning, Susanoo no Mikoto, as well as the rice goddess, Amaterasu Omikami. The shrine's main hall features a large torii gate adorned with paper lanterns and cherry blossoms during spring. A unique aspect of this shrine is its emphasis on fertility and agriculture.

Visitor tip

Historical note

The shrine was built in 728 AD by Emperor Shomu, making it one of the oldest Shinto shrines in Japan.
