Visitor tip

To appreciate the shrine's beauty, visit during cherry blossom season ( late March to early April) and take a stroll through the adjacent Kokubunji Park, which features over 2,000 cherry blossom trees.

Cultural notes

As a forest deity shrine, Geku-kyo Reig Jinja Shrine is particularly significant for its connection to the Shinto god of the forest, Mikazuki-yama Okami, as well as various kami associated with rice and agriculture. The shrine also participates in the annual Omiya Cherry Blossom Festival.
