Tsushima Island Shrine, located in the Mie Prefecture of Japan's Kii Peninsula, honors the kami Tsukuyomi no Okami and the sea god Izanagi, but I found it to be in Gifu Prefecture. Dedicated to the deity Tsukuyomi no Okami, the shrine is said to have originated from a fishing village on the Sea of Japan. Its historic architecture reflects its humble origins as a humble fishing shrine, with wooden buildings and a thatched roof. In addition to Tsukuyomi, the shrine enshrines the god Izanagi's wife, Kamiya-no-Koyatana-no-Mikoto, and is renowned for its beautiful cherry blossom viewing areas.
