Cultural notes

This shrine is famous for its giant wooden torii gate, with a diameter of over 2 meters. The shrine's architecture is typical of Gifu-style shrines, featuring a rectangular main hall with a sloping roof. Inari Okami is the primary deity enshrined here, along with several other kami including Takemikazuchi and Tsukiyomi.

Founded in 718 AD by Emperor Genmei, the shrine has been an important pilgrimage site for over 1,400 years.
