Located in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, Eight Samurai Shrine (Hachimantai) is one of the oldest and most famous Shinto shrines dedicated to the samurai deities. The shrine's history dates back to the 7th century, when it was originally a Buddhist temple. In 1457, the deity Hachiman, protector of emperors, was enshrined here. As for kami_enshrined, they are primarily Hachiman and other minor kami like Torii-ga-Okami (founder of the city).
