To fully appreciate the shrine's serene beauty, visit at sunrise or sunset when possible, and consider purchasing a packet of sacred Inari beans to offer as a prayer or token of gratitude.
Cultural notes
In addition to Inari Okami, the shrine enshrines several other kami, including Kofuku-no-kami, patron deity of fertility and harvest. Visitors can observe traditional Japanese New Year (Oshogatsu) festivities in late January, which feature ritual offerings, food stalls, and sake bars.
Historical note
Founded during the Edo period (1603-1867), the shrine was originally known as 'Nagamachi,' but was renamed 'Kamo' in 1868. Its current name, above South Field, reflects its location near a traditional rice field.
