熊野樟日神

Located in the city of Koka, Shiga Prefecture, 熊野樟日神 Shrine is a sacred site dedicated to the Shinto deity Ōkuninushi-no-kami. The shrine is famous for its unique architectural style and beautiful gardens. Visitors can walk through the tranquil paths and admire the stunning views of Lake Biwa. The shrine's history dates back to 727, when it was first established by Emperor Shōmu as a major cult center. Today, it remains an important pilgrimage site for locals and tourists alike.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes

Ōkuninushi-no-kami is often associated with agriculture and fertility. Visitors can participate in the annual Ōmisoka festival, which takes place on December 31st and features traditional dances and offerings to the deity.
