Tennō-ji Daikannon-san is one of Japan's oldest and most famous shrines, dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu Ōmikami. Located in Osaka, it was built during the Nara period (710 CE) and has been a significant cultural and historical site ever since. Visitor tip

Cultural notes
Tennō-ji is closely tied to the mythology of Amaterasu Ōmikami, who was said to have descended from the heavens and possessed incredible power. The shrine also hosts the famous Tenjin Matsuri festival every year, which celebrates the arrival of the deity and features traditional performances, food stalls, and parades.
