Dayagiri Tenmangū Shrine is a Shinto temple located in the eastern part of Kyoto, dedicated to the god of fertility and prosperity. The shrine's name, Dayagiri, literally means 'sunrise at the bottom of the mountain,' referring to its location on the slopes of Mount Hie. According to legend, the shrine was built during the Nara period (710-794 CE) by a local nobleman who wanted to appease the gods for a successful harvest.
