Cultural notes
The shrine is famous for its association with Ebisu, the Shinto god of prosperity and good fortune. According to legend, a mysterious woman appeared at the site where the shrine was later built, begging for shelter. She vanished as suddenly as she appeared, leaving behind an image of her, which is now enshrined within the shrine.
