Located in the heart of Hitachi Seaside City, Omiya Shrine, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Amaterasu Ōmikami, the Sun Goddess, as well as the local deity Ryūgūin, and the god of prosperity, Ebisu. With its long history dating back to 1605, Omiya Shrine has played an important role in the city's development and is famous for its beautiful autumn foliage. The shrine's architecture is typical of a traditional Japanese Shinto shrine with a large torii gate and a beautifully landscaped garden.

Visitor tip

Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt after a fire destroyed the original structure in 1613.
